The New York Harassment and Discrimination Policy was updated based on an amendment to the law which has gone into effect immediately.
On July 12, 2019, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a new law amending the state human rights law. The new law expands on the definition of race to include “traits historically associated with race, such as hair texture and protective hairstyles.”
However, in order to make sure you are in full compliance, please replace your current harassment and discrimination policy with the updated policy.
