The New Mexico Job Application has been updated to be in compliance with a new law banning employers from asking about criminal history. Therefore, the criminal history question has been removed from the Job Application Smart App for customers in New Mexico.
As of June 14, 2019 this new law prohibits private businesses from using a job application to inquire of any criminal histories about job applicants’ conviction records. Such matters may be taken into consideration after an employer reviews the applicant’s application to allow the applicant an opportunity to reveal their qualifications for the job in which they are applying.
However, in order to make sure you are in full compliance, all current paper job applications should be discarded, and new, updated versions printed from the Resources tab in the app.
